Wolfenburg: The Warhammer MUD

The last few months have been a particularly hectic time for Wolfenburg. The MUD is no longer Warhammer based, though the atmosphere is still one of dark(ish) Medieval fantasy, and the roleplaying ethos is still admirably strong. We've been renamed to Kingdom of Heroes, and the new website is at www.kingdomofheroes.com.
The other main change is to the Guilds system -- previously this was rather limited (Pit Fighters joined the Pit Fighters' Guild, Musketeers joined the Musketeers' Guild) but now the 26 class-based guilds have been merged into 9 multi-class guilds. This means that most characters, especially human ones, can choose between several guilds to join, and that the guilds themselves are far larger and better equipped.
Some of the unwelcome changes have been a decline in the player-base; we're now only getting 10 or 12 people on at best, which is lower than I've ever seen it at peak times. The change to a non-Warhammer game led quite a few people to leave, and the Guild Mergers were initially disliked by some but are, in fact, working very well now.
My impression is that OGC had little time and resources to spend on Kingdom of Heroes perhaps a year or so ago, and it's been since that time that we've lost players. I think things are looking up at the moment; OGC has redesigned the website, and Kingdom of Heroes is moving to a new, better, server at the start of August.
The roleplaying is fantastic, and if anything, lower numbers of players make it easier to get to interact with more of the characters in game. However, more adventurers wouldn't go amiss; take a look at www.kingdomofheroes.com if you're interested, or www.juxquin.com (my own site).
