First a little background if you don't know the Highlands.
I started playing at the Highlands (think it was II but could have been I), back in '94 I believe, when it was at temple. I've had a couple breaks and not played continously but I think I've covered most of the bases a player can have there. I was a clan leader (twice, ToD and cabal), an imm (wiz), and an imp. Currently, I am an imm again (purely curtesy since I haven't really "done" anything as yet since I've started).
Why did I start playing Highlands? It was because I thought it was a highlander themed mud. It wasn't and isn't. I wanted to play a highlander themed mud, but before I knew it, I was completely engaged by the players and imms. As a complete newbie, it took me a couple days to get to L20 (I was a slow learner) the first time. I must have made every steeenkin newbie mistake out there. I'm sure I annoyed the established players but they didn't show it. Pratically everyone was helpful, and while they didn't power level me (which I am glad didn't happen), they gave me several tips and suggestions that really helped. HighlandsIII is still the same mud I fell in love with and the players just as helpful.
If your a new to muds or if you're looking for a new home, check out the HighlandsIII. Look me up and I'll help get you on the path at the Highlands. If I'm not on, I'm sure someone that's on and not AFK will be willing to do the same.
