This is a discussion on "Recommendation for a MUD" in the Top Mud Sites Advertising for Players forum :

Well... I'm in doubt of which MUD to join... I played Achaea, not liked it so much. Anyways, i'm a big fan of roleplay, i love deep economy and some politics. Well, seems easy so far... But i want one with POKER! texas hold'em for better... And because of that i've been overseeing Aardwolf... But Threshold seems so deep too! Any opinion on any of them? Recommendation? Thanks!...

I liked Threshold at the time, not sure how it is these days. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I recommend Threshold RPG. And it does have the possibility to play poker!

I have no doubts that Aardwolf would be good, but my vote goes to Threshold on this one.

Yeah, Threshold is definitely the better choice between the two, and you can play poker there.  Not sure if they use "Texas Holdem" rules, but it won't take long to find out!

I'd like to recommend AR instead..

We have poker, roulette, pontoon (custom blackjack), coin tossing games, dice games. And in addition to that, other mini-games we have that you'll find exploring the realms include juggling, knife throwing, once-only quests.. the Gods of the realms also set challenges for people to win periodically.

You can waste your winnings away on "randomized items", which are bought from shops.. use it to take a contract out on other players (which'll get them hunted by assassins), spend it on useful potions and scrolls.. etc. Its useful and in short supply.

The MUD is free and roleplay enforced, so you get the best of both worlds.
Link in sig.
