- On Sivad, a military ball is planned for Saturday, April 12, at about 4 p.m. Eastern.
- On Mars, the first group of Republic refugees from Deserata returns Saturday, April 12, at about 4 p.m. Eastern, to the Moebius-altered red planet with the Martian Legions in the hopes of a new life of coexistence with the Outbacker Martians. Titan and Rogue have officially shifted over to staff Mars again.
- On Luna, efforts are stepping up to try and cure the Thul Resequencing Virus. No specific date is set for this, but Marlan Ranix will be working with other doctors/scientists on the project ASAP.
- On Sanctuary, all non-Parallax personnel have been given permission to leave for their homeworlds thanks to negotiations by the Martian Republic.
@mail Wes Platt on the MUSH with a destination to make sure your character gets repatriated.
- The human colony world of Waldheim, German-influenced and long cutoff from the galaxy, has opened for roleplaying. Great place for total OS newbies to start and for veterans to get alts. Thanks to Volskywalker and Khamura for their efforts!

CHIAROSCURO

- Players now automatically go OOC if they log off while IC on horseback. This prevents horses from showing people on horses who aren't actually logged on. Stables now automatically feed horses when they're taken in. Now, we're working on carriages to be hooked up to horses. Thanks, Cellshade!

- Rasputin has joined the coding staff of Chiaroscuro. His first assignment: The NPC retainer system.
- Wik is working on a project to include additional boat classes for river travel, and, when finished, it will include randomized descriptions and attributes to make boats as variable as horses.
- Roleplaying activities continue, with Cellshade and Chalice running an intriguing plot of their own, while word is spreading through the realm that Emperor Talus Kahar XIV's mother is dying in the city of Aegisport of an incurable illness. The game's first state funeral will likely be held in May.

STAR WARS: REACH OF THE EMPIRE

- The SW:ROE Survivor's Guide 1.0 has been released. Includes plenty of handy tips for getting started and getting around in the Reach of the Empire universe. Thanks to Falk for his contributions to the project! Check it out under the Survivor's Guide link on the website.
- Vehicles now are capable of boarding HSpace ships docked at spaceports, thanks to Titan and Rogue! Check out +help vehicles on the MUSH.
- We held our first PK night on Nar Shaddaa on Wednesday, and had about 12-13 participants. It was a lot of fun, lasted about an hour, and damned if I didn't get my own character killed off within the first five minutes. We'll hold another PK night next month.
- Our new bounty hunter story arc, "The Sound and the Fury," begins soon. Stay tuned for announcements!

Like previous chronicles, it will include edited logs and commentary about the ambitious Sanctuary roleplaying project, in which the entire MUSH was thrown together aboard one ship for six RL months.
o "Saga E-Zine, May 2003" - The second edition of the Saga E-Zine will spotlight two key folks from Star Wars: Reach of the Empire. Our staffer spotlight will be Titan, co-head-wiz of the game. Our player spotlight will be Phoenix, who has been an ROE player since the game opened in September 2002. The E-Zine will also feature IC news, RP notable listings, a Talk Back section (send questions about jointhesaga.com projects to saga@jointhesaga.com and we'll answer them), logs from the games, and player fiction submitted to saga@jointhesaga.com. Here's the latest news from the projects of jointhesaga.com:

OTHERSPACE:

Arc XV: The Gate of Breath has hit its midpoint with the discovery of a cure for the new Thul Resequencing Virus. We're now rolling on toward the finale - expected sometime in late May-to-mid June.

On June 28, we celebrate the fifth anniversary of the evolving SF saga. Trivia contests, an online reunion of players and staffers, and other activities are planned. Stay tuned!

CHIAROSCURO:

Kagato is working on the new dog-fighting system, while Rasputin is plugging away at the NPC retainers and Marson polishes System 4.0 for rollout. I've also put in a request for new coding projects such as a system that will allow players to post parchment letters at crossroads and other locations, and another that would allow players to share the weight of heavy objects they need to carry from one place to another.

Meanwhile, we've seen a nice boost in RP activity thanks to the Mikins, Zahirs and Seamels

ICly, we've got a Shadow-Touched mystery involving a shapeshifting wolf creature, the Church of True Light continues to hunt for a man who is apparently capable of flight (and made the mistake of doing it in front of witnesses), and the Emperor's mother is dying in the township of Aegisport.

STAR WARS: REACH OF THE EMPIRE:

We've had steady activity in recent weeks, which led me to the decision not to advance the timeline of the theme at all. Good work, everybody!

A Bounty Hunters board, moderated by Falk, has been added to our web forums at http://roe.jointhesaga.com - so, if you're a hunter, get active there and stay informed.

Also, watch for player-posted logs and player fiction in those forums.

Titan should be back at ROE on April 27!

SAGA E-ZINE:

The next edition is due in early May. It will feature interviews with Titan and Phoenix of ROE, spotlights on the Vollistan Light Singer race on OtherSpace, House Zahir on Chiaroscuro and the Black Diamonds of Reach of the Empire, lists of RP notables from all three games, IC news, and roleplaying logs.

The deadline to turn in classified ads for in-game orgs, letters for the Talk Back section, or fiction submissions, is Friday, April 25.

Starting with the May edition, you'll only be able to find the RP notables lists in Saga E-Zine!

The May edition will include a special mail-in coupon for new freelanders and merchants at Chiaroscuro to get 1,000 XP with the purchase of their character.
