Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Isn't(ever)boring -- Check! Quite varied! Is(always)original -- Check! Predates the SW movies by 10k years. Has a open skill system -- More or less checked. You do have to what SOME people. Has alot of friendly people -- It's offline.* * I find that offline characters (NPCs) are usually more interesting, realistic, diverse and less insulting then any online counterpart can manage. |

I've played it, and I like it, but I'm looking for a game where there's interaction with human beings, not NPC's. (human beings behind a computer that is.) Thanks for the post though,

Shadows of Isildur. I was like you once... I got so #### tired of all the usual hack'n'slash/level up stuff. They're all the same... Then I found Icesus and Islands of Myth. They kinda got me hooked up again. Then, inevitably, I felt bored again. Shadows of Isildur saved my mudding career. I've thrown the last remnants of my social life out the window. |

Hello! I have two MUDs I could suggest.
Both of these games are roleplaying intensive. They are both highly original, skill-based (with no levels), and quite interesting. Both offer a way to connect from your browser, as well, but I would still reccommend using a client. First off, I would like to reccommend Accursed Lands: http://www.accursed-lands.com Secondly, I would like to reccommend Armageddon: http://www.armageddon.org (I think) I don't play Armageddon anymore because of some logging-out problems I had, and I was annoyed at its near complete lack of ansi. But the roleplay there is good quality. If you have any questions about Accursed Lands, however, feel free to IM me at: CandidatusLupus I'll be more than happy to assist you if you decide to start that game and feel lost, or would just like more information. |

Asking a question like this, you should really expect an advertising freeforall
From the perspective of a player with no large allegiances, I would suggest either http://www.evarayn.com/ or http://www.imperian.com. Evarayn is fresh, small and very well developed. It has an open skill system not based on violence, and is still quite young having opened earlier this year. Imperian is a commercial mud, but is has the highest quality of player interaction I've seen. It is where I play, and it has only a partially open skill system, but I mention it due to the excellence of the development team running it. I hope these are useful. Heh, hardestadt: I'm desperate enough to try it,lol. And when I said isn't ever boring, I meant more like very few moments are boring. Like for example crafting, something that's boring in most games, isn't boring; or fighting or maybe even just walking. *shrug* I have an open mind.
By the way, thanks for taking the time to reply. Appreciations. |

Crafting in -real life- isn't exactly exciting. It's usually very mundane, peaceful, tranquil work (unless you're carving totem poles out of wood with chainsaws or something).
Perhaps you're setting your expectations too high and nothing can possibly meet them? In Armageddon, for example, there are -hours- where you do nothing but solo-emote, or sit there. But there are also -hours- where it's so busy you can't handle the screen scroll. One offsets the other pretty nicely, and it helps that the rest of the time between the two is somewhere in the middle. Crafting consists of typing in the correct command/syntax, then emoting doing the actual work, then you see whether or not the command failed or succeeded to produce what you wanted to create. The only -exciting- parts about the process are when you first type "craft object" to see what you -can- make from the materials, and find that something new has been added to the list because you've become better at it. The second 'exciting' thing is when you succeed in making what you wanted to make, because it takes a lot of failures before you can succeed. But this isn't all that much different from how it is in real life - discovery, failed attempts, and final success. The coded skills aren't what makes Armageddon exciting. The RP is. Your interaction with the game world, the people you come in contact with, the overall atmosphere, the danger and risk looming in every corner. Though, it IS neat to see a new skill show up on your skills list when you finally branch something |

I tried sending an application for a character for armaggedon but it didn't do anything..it's been a couple of days...kinda annoying... And yeah, I guess I'm setting my expectations a bit high..but still...I can dream!
Armaggedon might be added, but as I can't play it, I wouldnt know. Also, if anybody who owns or plans on owning a RP mud that requires application...let people suicide once. Or just have a temporary char. That's what kinda annoys me about application muds..but it's a minor thing. Thanks for the feedback. Peace to your world and appreciations. |

Well, if you're on the advertising front...
Quote:
It's an RP MUD, with three distinct cultures - the Empire, Eastern Sultanate, and the Dominion. There are some outstanding roleplayers on board - I've yet to log on and see fewer than five people online I'd actually want to go out of my way to find and roleplay with... and I'm picky It falls down on 1) No crafting... but restrings ARE available from the imms, for just playing, enjoying yourself, roleplaying and not being a 'tard 2) No permadeath... but this can be knocked down to personal preference. A good whack of players play 1 death characters, which tends to promote more roleplay, instead of mindless killing. 3) Drama queens... any decent RP MUD will suffer from its share of these, but to be fair, if that's how they enjoy playing, that's fair enough. 4) Classes... but there's nothing that says if you are a XX class, you must play it XXX way. I've seen all trades accounted for, without reference to the class system. Big huge fluffy bonus points for... 1) TEACHING SKILLS! Yep, you don't just maghically pick them up from your guildmaster with the practice command. 2) Some EXCELLENT areas. The detail is precise to the point of anal. This is good. We like this 3) IC Law enforcement. 4) Active imms, who are prepared to put in the time and effort for the players. 5) Consistent plots and cultures. So... yes.... in short, it's worth a shot. It's not for everyone, no MUD is, but for a decent, well thought out, original RP MUD, I've yet to find one I enjoy more. |

If it's been two days since you applied (meaning, 48 hours or more) then you should make sure that you logged out correctly.
If you just "x" out of your client when you're done rather than following the menu directions, your account is still logged in and they won't be able to do anything with the application. As for suiciding, there is no coded "suicide" command. Armageddon is a RP game. They don't want people just randomly killing themselves because to the rest of the game world, that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Also if you intentionally get your character killed just because you don't like your stats, or get bored, or whatever - and do this often, the staff will probably wonder if you're actually interested in RPing in a harsh environment or not - and you might not see any karma options on your character choice list any time soon. Regarding solo-emoting - it's for character development. Also without giving out IC info - you never know who's watching, that you can't see. There are no canned automated quests that I know of so emoting out the "right emote" to get a mob to respond isn't gonna help you much. |

I exited out of the game properly...and it's been 48 hours...and I've re-tried...And porn isn't a game, it's unhealthy unless you're a pimply, no-hope-of-a-girlfriend-ever 18 or 19 year old. (not flaming, just mentioning) And I'll try turning point. And wee! I got responses! *_* And also, suicide isn't that great of an idea, and I realise you can just log on as a guest..please forget about the suicide and stuff post. Thanks. And since this is a bit to..vague for me(I'm picky too
