Chiaroscuro: The Interactive Fantasy Saga

Online since 2003, Chiaroscuro is an original-theme online roleplaying game that takes place in three primary regions: Fastheld, a walled city-state where magic is feared; Halagh, a series of mountain cities inhabited by gadget-loving Halaghi; and the Weeping Stones Islands, a cluster of islands in the sea off the coast of the continent where the pantheon-worshiping Moss Men dwell.

Our primary focus is on roleplaying – acting out scenes involving multiple players – from small chance meetings to massive world-changing events. But we’ve got other features that make the game attractive for players around the clock:

-More than 2,000 player-craftable items, which can be made and sold to other players, automated shopkeepers and auctioneers.
-Lots to explore. It takes about 33 real-time hours, for example, to walk around the perimeter of Fastheld’s great Aegis wall.
-MUDQuests, which allow players to test their skills for the chance to win coin and experience points.
-Deedgivers, which reward players for completing a variety of tasks.

Own land. Build a shop. Get a customized castle. Lead a guild. Insert yourself into webs of noble intrigue. Make a name for yourself as a superstar roleplayer or an eminent crafter.

The game is free to play, although we do offer some paid in-game enhancements (extra crafting minutes, fast horses, luck cards, and other goodies).
