Advertising for Players

The Gods Lie has been in development since August of 2003. I know it's not a long time, but we're making steady progress. Last week I posted my first ad at TMC and was succesful in getting some players. This has been extremely helpful in pointing out bugs and problems. Regardless they are still there and having a blast.

Anyway, if you don't mind finding a bug and reporting it, a bit of connstant Out of Character chatter (you can turn it off) and testing new things to do, then this might just be the mud for you!

We are Fantasy based, have some unique areas built along with quite a bit of stock. The two are separated. We feature an active forum, a new mailing list, and lots of fun things to try.

A list of features can be found on the website, but the newest additions are in the forums.

We have clans that can gain control of entire areas, write laws, create miners, guards to protect the area from other clans, and a huge slew more.

We have non-combative classes, one in particular, the Artisan, is a master craftsman and receives his experience solely thru the crafting of items. He's also becoming quite rich as his items are superior to what's available in town.

Interested in remort? How's this for a twist. You can impregnate (yourself if female) or another female (mob or player) Carry the baby to term, take care of the child as it grows, then logon and PLAY that child which has gained attributes and advantages from both parents. So pick your mate wisely.

Clerics can perform marriages... and divorces.

You can purchase a plot of land from a deed seller, than build your home, expand it, write your own descriptions, add furniture, sleeping arrangements, stoves, all thru the use of your own skills or hireing someone to do it for you. All IN-GAME. No immortal required.

Speaking of immortals, there are only two of us trying to run/repair/assist pretty much everything going on. So if yer interested in building, doing PR, helping new folks, whatever, then THIS is the place to start. Simply by playing as most staff is recruited from the playerbase.

Ok, when I dropped by to check it out it worked fine, but I use a program called Portal to access muds, opposed to gmud or zmud or the like. And whenever I create a character it asks for a password, but for some reason it isn't letting me enter a password, it just acts like I already did and let's me through. But when I go to log back in it doesn't recognize any password I try, not even just hitting the enter key.
Any ideas as to what is going on?

I'm not familiar enough with portal to help you out specifically, however on ZMud I had to turn parsing off for many muds (including my own) in order to login.

If you give me a character name that you tried to logon with I'll be able to check my logs, although I don't see any login errors from last night.

I'll see if any of the users use portal and if they had to do anything special to login.

He never fixed it, he just changed clients. I'm sure there must be a way to configure that in portal.

Hey,

This might solve the portal question, and it might not it's hard to say because of the version of portal. When you start portal click on player profiles after you have the profile selected you wish to change. Then click edit profile, if you look to the right there is something called Login script, now then if you have installed portal and let it run automatically open up this link in a web browser:
file:///c:/program%20files/portal/help/main.html
That explains how to change the login script, or you can just clear that login script completly if it will still allow you to.

Do you have a website for your Mud? Because when I type in www.thegodslie.com (or follow the links you left here) it takes me to: www.thegodlies.com:27744

That's correct. The website (www.thegodslie.com) autoredirects you to the mud web server running on port 27744. 80% of the website and mud are integrated.

As long as yer somewhere at TheGodsLie.com, yer at the right place.

Nevermind ... I forgot I was at school - where they have excluded some many options for the sake of "security"! Thus I couldn't connect.
