This is a discussion on "RP Muds.....again" in the Top Mud Sites Advertising for Players forum : Here I am again. Looking for a new mud to play. I just left my old two games, basically because they are Pay to Play MUDs. I enjoyed them ever so much though - but I'm just a poor college student and I can't fit it into my budget anymore. Anyways. I'm looking for a enforced or mandatory RP MUD or, I guess..a MUSH with: ~The ability to advance without just hacking and slashing. (RPXP, getting XP from crafting, etc.) ~A nice sized playerbase. I hate worlds that are huge but only have about 8 players running ... |

Here I am again.
I hate worlds that are huge but only have about 8 players running around. And I can't find a single one. ~Player run everything! Goverment, clans, guilds, economy (Or at least close to everything is player driven) ~Lots of RP or a least a few scheduled events ~Lots of Races. (I would really like to RP a dragon ~(Optional) Are hiring! Like I said in another post, I'd like to work in a MUD in a RP related postition. Now the games I used to play really spoiled me. So I ask for a lot. I've made this post before, but this is for any new MUDs to sway me and maybe some of the old ones too. Also, I've tried these MUDs: ~Harshland - Very good, but I felt so alone. But I'm going to keep trying! ~DartMUD - Sorry, this one just isn't for me. ~Armageddon - I'm glad some people have fun here. This MUD sounds great, but I couldn't get involved with anything. I tried and failed miserably. Dark Legacy - Very, very nice game, in my opinion. RP is encouraged, but I found it hard to stir up with the current playerbase. That's it! Thanks! |

If you're interested, try The Turning Point MUD.
telnet://mud.tp.org 9999 RP is enforced, RPXP (through passive/RPV and rewards) exists, and the players do run basically everything (with Imm support for many storylines, both small and large). The playerbase is growing, slowly but surely, and during peak hours it should be very easy to find people in the major centers of activity. No dragon races, but there are other interesting ones, with plenty of history, racial roleplay and interest. I do recommend that you at least glance at the QuickStart Guide on the website (found at: http://mud.tp.org) because it should help you get right into the game, and into the action. Even for experienced mudders, the Guide is there to help you move quickly into the world of TP. Hope to see you around. Pleos, TP Imp http://mud.tp.org telnet://mud.tp.org 9999 |

Hey Realdazed, I see you tried Armageddon and you imply it was your failure that caused you to be disappointed. Arm can be pretty tough for newcomers to get "into" things sometimes (it depends on when you're playing, for the most part).
If you think you're up for another try, feel free to e-mail me: teintnatural@yahoo.com I'm not an official "helper" but I had extremely good luck in getting involved from the very first day I started playing, just a year ago, so I might have the advantage of seeing things from the "newbie's" side of things better than some. I won't give you any "cheats" but I can offer references to the website and help files for mechanics and "things your character would normally know about". I can also help you with getting your character involved, without trying to stick you into something that you just might not be interested in or ready for. Arm can definitely be intimidating, and even after a year I see RP that just totally blows me away and impresses the heck outta me. I'd love to see you give it another try, so if you've considered it, send me a note and I'll give you a hand. |

Just a note about Arm: I think I'd like it a whole lot better if it was just a normal world, not this desert crap. It's a great mud, but I wanna see oceans and forests and stuff.
