This is a discussion on "Achaea in Wired" in the Top Mud Sites Advertising for Players forum : There's an article in Wired News today about addictions and such, and talks about Achaea's recent introduction of the hardcore (and extremely detrimentally addictive) drug gleam. And a disclaimer to stop the inevitable trolling: We're not the first to do addictive substances in muds, by a long shot. (Although I haven't personally seen an implementation that is so punishing when going through what can be an extended - 25 hours of playing time - withdrawl.) Don't use drugs kids! (unless it is a legal substance like nicotine, of course, which is government sanctioned and government subsidised but ... |

And a disclaimer to stop the inevitable trolling: We're not the first to do addictive substances in muds, by a long shot. (Although I haven't personally seen an implementation that is so punishing when going through what can be an extended - 25 hours of playing time - withdrawl.) Don't use drugs kids! (unless it is a legal substance like nicotine, of course, which is government sanctioned and government subsidised but kills more people than heroin, cocaine, and rubber poodles combined.) --matt |
