This is a discussion on "Security certification" in the Top Mud Sites Advertising for Players forum :

As we try to go the extra mile for our playerbase, we've recently gotten all our games certified by the web security firm Security Metrics as being safe and secure from hackers. So, there's no worries about your personal information being stolen or someone breaking in and destroying game data. Enjoy, and if you're not already playing, come find out for yourself why our games are so popular. 700 people playing them right now! --matt...

This is more of a general comment (and warning) to anyone taking the original post to heart.

The only computer which is truely "safe and secure from hackers" is one which isn't connected to the internet, and hackers aren't the only way that the privacy of data can be compromised.

Therefore regardless of promises any mud admin may make, you should always keep your passwords unique from mud to mud, and never give out unnecessary information if it concerns something you wouldn't want being made public.

Completely agreed. No security is absolute, and Security Metrics doesn't certify security as absolute. Having a reputable third party entity verify that you're following reasonable security procedures is well worth it though, for the sake of the users.
