help ivote
IVOTE IVOTED "I VOTE" Please go to: http://www.topmudsites.com/cgi-bin/t....cgi?id=Soleil If you feel Medievia is the best mud, click the button. That is it. It takes just a few seconds, especially if you add the URL to your browsers favorite. The game will notify you every 13 hours that it is time to vote. Voting is allowed every 12 hours. We have spent years as the best mud. Unfortunetly we have also spent years on the mud voting portals as a crappy mud as we never nagged players to vote like other muds do. It is depressing seeing Medievia listed as the 18th best mud when we have hundreds of players online and the other muds do not. It is depressing seeing so many people find mud portals and try the best listed mud, not like it, and never try another mud EVER again thinking that they tried the best mud. THAT sucks! They have not tried the best mud. No other mud compares to Medievia. Please lets let everyone know by simply voting. Once you vote do a VOTE IVOTED and your prompt will clear until tomorrow. Do not run a script to clear the prompt as the game detects this and marks your history. That is fine but if you ever want our help, or our support in your problems, or to become an avatar or god, you do not want this kind of history. This is the way the other muds get so many votes more than we have traditionally received in the past. So now we will try it. Please PLEASE P L E A S E just vote every day. Its painless and helps us SO SO MUCH. Thanks, -Vryce |

But yes, I'd certainly agree that you've spent years as "crappy mud" as well. Quote:

Pathetic!
But also interesting to see Vryce showing his face here, after Soleil repeatedly declared that he doesn't follow or post in Mud boards, and consequently cannot answer questions about the code he stole. So, since you obviously do read this board, Vryce; how about responding to the very polite e-mail you were sent some time ago, with several questions that the mud community would like to see answered. Now would be a very good time to do this. Otherwise, prepare to wear asbesto underwear every time you post an advert about your mud on a mud related board. Or wait... Is this some sort of bad a joke? Someone impersonating him? I'll hold my laughter until we make sure. No doubt Soleil will enlighten us soon. |

Was not intending to Impersonate V as my name says I have been betrayed by the gods.
This is just a direct cut and paste from Med's newest helpfile, thought I'd share. V's name happens to be signed on the bottom. |

TMS should boot Medievia right off the list, as obviously there are now rewards for voting and consequences for not voting. Just log on to Medievia and type HELP IVOTE. That will prove our story.

Whoa- Look at all the free publicity for Medievia - thanks!
Just to respond to us being 'booted off' the voting list- no we are not giving any rewards for voting at all, and the consequences Vryce wrote about would be ONLY if a person ran a script on the game, which is illegal anyways (aside from voting). We are just now making our players aware of the importance of voting and urging them to vote, which is what other games have been doing already. What we have just started doing with this IVOTED has been something that Aardwolf (and possibly other MUDs) has been doing for some time now. If Medievia were to be taken off this list for such a thing, I would think that all the other games doing the same exact thing should also be taken off the list. I know that Medievia is considered the 'black sheep' of this business, but in the end, the rules of this voting site should apply to all games it lists. |

This is Aardwolf's help voting file. I'm just posting it for informational purposes so people don't speculate on what it actually says.
--------------------------------------- help voting ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Help Keywords : IVOTED VOTING. Help Category : Miscellaneous. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Syntax: ivoted - Resets 13 hour timer. ivoted ! - Resets 13 hour timer regardless of current timers. ivoted clear - Don't bug me with voting anymore The Aardwolf webpage at http://www.aardmud.org has a 'Vote Aardwolf' button on which players can vote for Aardwolf every 13 hours at topmudsites.com. Voting for Aardwolf helps the mud by attracting new users and gains recognition for the MUD. We would love to give rewards for voting, but that is against the rules for the site. We have learned that at least one of the muds we're racing has linked the voting on the web to the IP logs on the mud, with the end result being that people can see who voted and who didn't - so there is a lot of peer pressure to vote. We don't want to go that far here, but after discussion with some players a little, some people DID say that a command to remind them to vote every 13 hours would be useful. After voting, just type 'ivoted' on the mud, and, 13 hours later, your prompt will start to include '[Time to vote!]' until you type 'ivoted' again. *> If you type it when 13 hours have not yet passed (you voted again from a different i/p address for example) - you will get a warning and need to use the syntax 'ivoted !' to override it. *> If you get tired of the reminders, you can type 'ivoted clear' to reset everything. This is just a reminder function - it is not being used for anything, so there is absolutely no point typing 'ivoted' unless you really did (or you need a 13 hour timer for something else). Thanks again all, if nothing else, having a constant stream of new players and some recognition for once makes myself and I'm sure many of the other imms, more motivated to work on improving the mud. -------------------------------------------------- --matt |

Well, now... Lets get to the cleaning and gutting part. The stalking and waiting part always bored the heck out of me, so i like to get where the high white noise is, whre the blood is on the boots and the cold air makes it look like you're chain smoking camels as hard as you can with every breath.
I've been playing muds since 1995. I spent years on aalynor's nexus, waterdeep, mordor mudrus, etc etc. I use telnet, or putty if telnet sucks too bad on the puter.I dont use mudmaster, or zmud, or any of the machine games. I type to live. There are no macros or aliases, scripts, and all that. Its like still using dice to play monopoly. if my fingers screw up, i die. ####.. i haven't even heroed in med yet, and i've been here like 5 years. So, with thousands of hours spent in the dark on the puter kicking and bashing and sometimes healing, what does it all boil down to besides the fact that muds are time suckers that make the hours fly by like seconds, and you go to bed in the morning with the screen still burning a hole in your brain every time you close your eyes?? Pure fun.Character development. Friendship with people who you would never otherwise talk to, much less meet. I voted for med cause i wanted to, kids. Lord knows, med hasn't given me a dang thing to do it.. i get no perks, no privs, none of that.I just get to plug into the world, and let the mind race as my fingers fly across the keyboard, trying to keep the virtual me alive and well.So for that reason, if i want to put an ivote or you vote or vote dammit t shirt on, then i will, cause the one thing you're forgetting is this..Its all about me, personal choice and freedom, not about what you want me to do for what reason.Thats why I play muds. thats why i vote. If you have a problem with that... bite me! Baalenoth, the never hero, but he can sure type his ass off |

No, nagware is not permitted by the rules of the site, per Synozeer in past threads. It is also not the way "other MUDs" get more votes than Medievia does. |

I'm locking this thread, as it's in the wrong forum. Feel free to post stuff like this in either of the Advertising forums, though I'll request that you respect the other rules of this site, notably the rule WarHound quoted above.
I'd move it, but that part of the control panel apparently doesn't work. |
