This is a discussion on "Xyllomer needs players!" in the Top Mud Sites Advertising for Players forum :

Xyllomer (xyllomer.mud.de 3000, www.xyllomer.de) is an English language fantasy MUD, based in Germany, and has been ongoing for over ten years now. It's the only MUD I've really enjoyed playing, and has a large number of areas (several continents), 5 races and a number of guilds, both occupational and layman. There is a weapon and armour forging system, and a general crafting system being worked on. Our playerbase has been drying up due to the real world setting in, we used to get numbers of around 80 people on at time, really giving the world depth. We have good roleplayers, no global channels that people use to spam OMFG N00B, and PK'ing is allowed. Try now and you might be in time to catch a nice event!

Also, if you don't give it a shot, I'll club your puppy. Don't try me. I know where it sleeps.

Just as a follow-up, I'm curious if anyone tried out Xyllo due to this note, and if so, any opinions, suggestions, etc?

You should consider some marketing tips, like putting special codes on your advertisements, such as TMS123, which players could use to redeem for XP when they tell you they came because of a TMS ad and got that code.

That would definitely help your statistics.

However, not sure how that'd apply to Xyllomer.

It's not about helping MY statistics. But it might save you having to bump an ad posting by asking if anyone came due to your ad posting. You would then *know*, because someone would have said so when they registered with your game. If you don't have the means to collect that kind of information, of course, it's a moot point.
