This is a discussion on "nethack style overhead maps" in the Top Mud Sites Advertising for Players forum : which muds have those maps? i'm looking for a mud and decided I can't live without them... |

which muds have those maps? i'm looking for a mud and decided I can't live without them

Godwars II sort of has them, as does Assault. Actually, quite a few have a similar sort of overland map deal, though I've never seen one which is identical to nethack. GWII does have randomly generated dungeons similar to nethack though. Unfortunately the movement system in GWII is a touch bizarre.

Medievia has maps. We even have 2 custom fonts made for our maps. Check out our screenshots and our fonts.

Wilderness maps are quite common, but the only mud I've seen that really had a nethack feel to it was Feltain. Unfortunately, it's closed down some time ago.

Very good mapping system, I guess it is comparable to the non-tile (ASCII?) mapping system in nethack. I play nethack with tiles though. |
