[Grem]

This is the 2005 promotion for the Epic Permana project. For those of you unfamiliar with this MUD, it's been in production for about 3 years now. Every year or so, a post is made in this section regarding the current progress of it. Im very excited with what's being accomplished, and know many MUD players are equally excited at how the project is coming together.

To iterate what's been said in previous years, the game is played via a custom-made client that utilizes DirectDraw. The game cannot be played with traditional MUD clients, as it features numerous enhancements such as sound, GUI graphics, clickable text, description caching, and other multimedia features. The purpose of the client is to make the game newbie friendly and to provide features that are unavailable in normal MUDs.

The MUD also brags hundreds of innovative ideas that many MUDs have either not attempted, or been unsuccessful with. For instance, im confident that the quest and character development systems are truly unique, and break the mold of traditional MMORPG 'grind-style' gaming. The combat system is also intuitive and interesting. Ive spent a lot of time fine-tuning various designs, and have experimented with countless systems before finding a combination that im satisfied with.

The main purpose of this post is the hopeful establishment of a community/following for my project. Most of the links are unavailable at the moment, but the key focus is obviously the Forum. The forum has numerous posts regarding my design plans and also many project screenshots. If everything works out this year, I hope to have the project finished by the end of 2005!
