Brief Game Description:

This is a graphical text-based mud which has been a side project for about 6 months now. The basics have all been started on the game, server/client is up.

The game will eventually consist of multiple worlds, travelling, vehicles, etc. It will be a life like mud based game, the plot and setting will be futuristic.

See the more detailed game description below.

Job Descriptions:

Builders
- Plan and plot the cities and areas in collaboration with the storyline creators. Planning cities and areas means structuring these (in consistency with the storyline). Plotting means placing npcs, buildings and items. This goes along with the next points:
- Create quests and the areas that are needed for these quests (this may include running events/quests that go on for a longer period of time, provided you are interested in staying with us and doing in-game staff work once the game goes online)
- Create items, both the regular and the more advanced and special items - the latter should go along with the quests created
- Create npcs, both regular and quest related
- Help develop the shard system


Mappers
- Create an ingenious system that will allow us to have three different maps in game. A large area map, a smaller area map and a minimap.
- The mapping itself which will, naturally, rely on the work of both the writers and the builders - and possibly the artists as well.

Artists
- Create the images for npcs, characters, items and areas that will go in game
- Create images for the website (worldmap, game images? Speak to Vintar about this)
- Help develop the interface
- Possibly create images for the maps used in game

As the writers' and builders' work is steadily progressing, we will be needing many images of areas in game, as well as characters, npcs, monsters, items and weapons. It will be possible to work individually and to pick and choose which images to do - should you join us, you would not be restricted to characters or items for instance, but you would be free to pick whichever images you would prefer to make within all categories.


Detailed Game Description:

Races
The game consists of multiple worlds; planets from which you will be able to start out according to your choice. Each world has their own distinct race, based on each having a predominant trait. In game, there are 6 traits: Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, Intelligence, Perception and Style (Charisma). These all lay the grounds for 6 races. Humans are the only race considered average, without any weaknesses or advantages.

Monsters and Npcs
The basic areas will have thugs, mobs, possibly even robots. Again, a futuristic/real life setting.

Shards and Weapons
Shards, the main point of the game, are orbs that unlock special powers. They can be removed and added. They are used on yourself, your weapon, and your primary armor. The coding for this is currently being worked on.
There will be the standard weapons, but on top of that, guns that require ammo. There will be pros and cons of using them. Examples could be laser guns that use small power cells, laser-powered swords, EMP cannons and such, as well as more real-life weapons, like the Desert Eagle, Machine guns, rocket launcher, but also weapons that are specific to each of the races, who will have different levels of technology.

Building: Item- and World Editors
Currently, an item editor and a world editor are in their final stages of development. Both of these will make it easier to implement items, weapons and also new areas into the game. This means that any builders wanting to join us need have no knowledge of coding in order to create areas for the game.

Mapping
Our head mapper is currently working from what the writers have finished in order to make the first maps for the game. He is working from the premise that there will be both a mini map and a larger area map per area. Both will be put directly into the game. Finally there will also be a large world map, which will pop up as you hit a button in the game. The large map will not show where the player is located, whereas the minimap would be a simplified local overview to show where the player is and in which directions he/she is able to move. The area map will likewise show where the player is located.

Current Projects
The writers have put together an outline for the first planet, its race and the main city. They are now working on Earth and its cities. Once this is finished, we will implement both (the alien city and the earth city) into the game in order to be able to do in-game testing of travelling between worlds and of the maps that will be used.

Team Structure
We encourage collaboration between the different staff groups and most decisions are made by the staff group as a collective. This means, that anyone who joins us is perceived as being able to bring valuable new input to our game, and we value and consider every new suggestion brought up. Should you join us, you will therefore be able to be a big part of the game and the direction it is taking.

The game is slowly coming into play. We have a great artist working on many things. Here is a quick example of the interface now:



If you don't wish to join us, I ask for your votes on implementation and how the game will 'shape' out to be. If you wish to do this to help us out, we do have two hot topics going on right now. How shards will fully be, and how stats/skills will be.
