Our MUD is a historically accurate recreation of ancient Mesopotamia, centered around Babylon circa 600 BCE. This is not a hack'n'slash game -- it is not only roleplay oriented, but academically oriented as well. The codebase a DIKU Gamma derivative called the SoI RPI engine that is very robust but still has plenty of room for improvement and innovation. I should note that we're heavily in the development stage at this point, and not yet open to players. We're trying something fairly new in that we're bringing MUDs to the field of historical study, in essence creating a virtual environment that brings the ancient world to life. Depending on our level of success, we could be the forerunners in a new branch of MUDs that takes it beyond just gaming. We have a small but dedicated staff of people who have a passion for world building, and who have the experience necessary to keep a MUD running. Some qualities we're looking for in an additional staff member include maturity, enjoyment of their work, trustworthiness, and ability to cooperate as part of a team. If this sounds like a good fit for you, send us an E-mail at staff@syriansands.org and tell us about yourself. We look forward to hearing from you! |
