This is a discussion on "your favorite multiplayer games" in the Top Mud Sites The Break Room forum : OK, maybe that's kind of a silly thread title in a mud forum, but as we're in the Break Room I'm talking about non-mud multiplayer online PC games (I'm not calling them nmmoPCgs). I'm hoping it's a fair guess that a big attraction of muds is the multiplayer, so do you play other multiplayer games that aren't muds? Here is one of my current favorites -- it's an indie production with kind of lo-fi graphics but cool style. Currently free in beta with a fairly painless download (8mb) and not too ... |

Re: your favorite multiplayer games
I'm currently in love with this game:
Ikariam - The free browser game It's like a simplified Civilization but massively multiplayer. I mostly play it while I write or code since there's quite a bit of downtime. Your game sounds like the best part of Tabula Rasa, Ide. The thing I loved about Tabula Rasa (and it might be the only thing I loved about it) was taking bases. Come to think of it, that's one of the things I loved about Dark Age of Camelot, too. I must just like taking things. |

Re: your favorite multiplayer games
Good one kodath, so it's online Pictionary basically? There were a ton of players on when I just checked.
Mina, that game reminds me a little of Travian -- though it doesn't seem to have a military component, is that true? (and what happened to your nick? Milawe?? 8|) |

It does have a pretty heavy military component, but I think people are less war crazy than the ones in Travian. (Of course I say that when there's a World War going on on my server.) Also, Travian was more about your individual plot of land. In Ikariam, you share your island with several people, and you usually find a good group of people to work with. Your political skills seem to matter a lot more, and I just enjoy the heavy trading aspects. You could go all out warlike, too, but that takes a whole different strategy. Anyway, it's my "game of the moment". It's lovely for people who are building, coding or writing because there is plenty of downtime, but you could work on the politics for hours on end. If you decide to give it a try, drop me a PM. I have to say that Ikariam has inspired a few gaming ideas for me! Also, interesting story about my nick... Actually, it's not interesting, but it's a bit personal. ![]() |

Re: your favorite multiplayer games
My favorite RTS multiplayer game of all time has been Total Annihilation, and now its successor, Supreme Commander.

Re: your favorite multiplayer games
My favorite would have to be Second Life... it's almost revolutionary and progressive. I even have a blog about my experiences there
