Let's see if we can get a bit more activity going in this forum
I'm Xerihae, real name Chris Jenkins, age 23 going on 50, and I live in the United Kingdom. I've been visiting Top Mud Sites for quite a while, although I only registered the back end of last year and haven't really done much posting on the forums up until the last month or so. I'm head coder and founder of the Winds of Lor'an MUD (hehe, guess my signature gives that away), which at the time of writing this is still under construction. When I'm not busy working on the MUD I enjoy playing various different types of computer games, reading, listening to music, playing the piano and drums, and watching cricket and rugby (no, I don't like football (soccer)). I also like to play D&D with my friends. Saturdays are good, 5 hours of D&D followed by 8 hours of drinking and partying. I'm also currently studying at my local college for an HND Computing, which covers programming, systems analysis, computer platforms, networking, and all sorts of other stuff. An HND is about about equivalent to the first 2 years of a degree to those not familiar with UK qualifications. I started my MUD'ding career on Shades back in 1988, which was the premier pay-to-play game in England based on a local BBS which my mom and dad were hooked on. Being 8 at the time I didn't play much, but it gave me my first taste of a MUD. Then theres a big gap until we got the internet in 1995ish. I started playing the True Source (which sadly seems to have disappeared). After that I wandered for a while until my dad pointed me to Abandoned Realms. I spent 4-5 years on Abandoned Realms, although I played a couple of other games during my time there which included Avendar and NewHaven. After leaving Abandoned Realms I wandered some more, playing for a time at As the Wheel Weaves, Legend of the Nobles, and a couple of other places until I began work on the Winds of Lor'an. Recently I've been made a moderator for the Newbie Help and MUD Humour forums here at TMS (thanks again Syno). As you can tell, I also tend to waffle on far too much! |

Re: Me, Myself, & Irene (errr, I)
Hey all!
Just thought I'd drop by and see how things are in the world of TMS. Been a while since I said hi except briefly the other day to wish KaVir a happy birthday. I hope you're all behaving yourselves and not causing the poor old Mod Team any hassle! As for me, well, I've been on a bit of a change life-wise since I left TMS. Recently got engaged to my long-term girlfriend, though no date set at the moment! I've also managed to persuade a local school to take me on as their Music & Creative Media Technician, which is a job I actually love and I can't believe someone's willing to pay me to do it! I also took over as the web admin for an online gaming community I helped form about 6 years ago, and we've been busily working on the site and ways to streamline, improve, and move the community forwards. For my sins I got hooked on the dreaded WoW for a while, but the novelty wore off and I don't log in very much any more (like a couple of hours a week) so I don't consider myself an addict. Currently just enjoying life and waiting for something interesting to play in what little spare time I seem to have. At the moment I've been playing OpenTTD, which is an open source version of the old Transport Tycoon Deluxe game. I'm also keeping an eye on the new sci-fi MMO's in development, such as Stargate Worlds, Star Trek Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Jumpgate Evolution & Black Prophecy. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well and that you're enjoying whatever it is you're up to these days! Kind regards and best wishes, Chris/Xer, on behalf of myself! |
