Hi everyone!

I've been lurking around the boards for months, and only just registered so I thought I'd post my hello here.

I'm 28, and have been mudding on various muds for around 10 years.

and Gateway to the Realms of Karnos, which shut a few years ago.

I'm a C/C++ programmer by trade, but have been sysadmin, technical manager and general IT know-it-all in various companies since I left full time education.

I live in the UK, and have travelled all over the world meeting geeks^H^H^H^H^H people from the Internet.

So, that's the hello out of the way. Lets go find a thread to post against!

Heh, still around eh? I briefly played on Karnos for awhile. Even came close to imming when Holgar was still there.

Heard about you guys shutting down awhile back and trying a move to a new codebase. Whatever happened with that?

We lost a large number of players when we switched codebases - with hindsight being the exact science that it is, I don't think we would ever have made the switch. Unfortunately the circle codebase that we were on previously was so heavily modified (and buggy) that our one coder at the time simply couldn't keep up with all the fixes.

Its a shame - Karnos was my first true mud-home, and when it finally died a death I had to scout around quite a lot to find somewhere that I felt comfy with.

I wonder if there are any other ex-Karnos players out there?

Hey Phar, i used to be on Karnos as Delita. Also was good friends with Anselm,Gimli,Earnedil,Narthius,Damien. Karnos was the greatest and should be brought back =P. Well just figured i would give ya a shout.

mortal and immortal experience on various muds.

Yes, there are quite a few ex-Karnos players playing on Mozart, some regularly and some more sporadically. Two of us ex-Karnos immortals are now on Mozart's immortal staff (myself and Zero, who was formerly Nilda on Karnos).

I'm curious though, Pharazon - how did you become so much younger than when you and I worked together on Karnos? Did you discover a fountain of eternal youth somewhere, and if so can we all get access to it?

Also surprised that you didn't mention Mozart - the mud you founded, six years before Karnos - as a former home. Oh wait. Going by the D.O.B. on your profile, you would only have been 14 when you set up Mozart.

So if you really are the Pharazon I worked with, what's the
secret behind your new youth? And if you're not, maybe you should do your homework better before you impersonate others again.

you came up and visted me and Karn/Ruination (aka Bob Fisher...who was just a punk kid at the time *laughs* in Mansfield ohio)

man talk about good memories...i always loved playing on Karnos and have great memories from those days...been playing alot of WoW on the Hellscream server because old Bob drug me there

its like a blast form the past finding you guys here (i googled Karnos cause i miss it soo much)
