After a 7 year hiatus, Nimud.org is back! The domain was originally lost to one of those 'domain extortion companies' back in 2002, when the site was being transferred from Network Solutions to Godaddy.com

However, by a stroke of luck, the domain was no longer registered and I was able to snatch it up and re-hang the NiMUD shingle at

http://www.nimud.org

Godaddy is notorious for that sort of thing. I highly recommend avoiding them whenever possible.

It's actually not Godaddy but the middleman company that did it. Anyway, there may be new legislation or, perhaps, it was simply overlooked. Back in my hands for the time being.

Godaddy lied to me regarding the old rpimud.com domain, claiming that the old owner still had an option on renewal while simultaneously telling him that his time had expired. It was inaccessible to either of us for weeks until it ended up as a crap-ad site.

Yeah, that's incredibly annoying. I tried going to RPIMud.com and RPMud.com recently. Neither gave me what I was looking for. At least RPMud.com is about ATV wheels, so it's actually somewhat relevant to mud.

The guys who do GoDaddy spent a weekend playing laser tag with select Super Kewl guys from my school as part of their "come work for us, we're cool" hiring program.

Yeah I'm no longer suckered by "we're cool, work for us" myself. I never really liked college except for the T-shirts, booze and, of course, the lovelies.
