This is a discussion on "Gotta problem with an ex-coder" in the Top Mud Sites Legal Issues forum : Once upon a time there was a coder that was working for us, 4 out of 5 imps on this mud told him to switch our code base to rom. Well one day I sign on and find this out, and then we change our minds to go rot instead. He had permission to change the areas and the code over, then give them back to us. He proceded to use another muds shell to convert the areas and such, and one day the owner of that shell signed on. He was qouted on saying 'I will not give you ... |

He proceded to use another muds shell to convert the areas and such, and one day the owner of that shell signed on. He was qouted on saying 'I will not give you your areas back. I will keep them here in my shell because i'm staying neutral. You will have to make an agreement with your former coder and yourself to get the areas back". I requested the areas back and asked for him not to use them, and he responded that if he wanted to he would change some of the mob names and such so it was a diffrent area. My question really is I guess how much of a chance do I have to take this guy to court to get him to delete thoose areas?

Post the name of the coder, the owner of the shell, and if the owner and/or coder are either running MUDs, the name of the MUDs? Word of mouth is the most effective weapon for you. -D |

Keljorian: Do you still have copies of your original areas?
I've played a bit on Mortal Hatred (Kel's mud), and they have fairly unique and well written areas. It'd be a shame to lose them to something silly like this. |

Yes I do have all of my areas, the coders name was Talen, he also goes by the name Sparowhawk. I am luck to make a back up of the mud every week, and had an older copy we lost a bit of work, but that's fine. About 2 days work was lost, and for our mud that was alot of stuff built. I am on Demon Mud most of the time, btw we changed the name Yui
