This is a discussion on "Finding and Keeping Good Builders" in the Top Mud Sites MUD Administration forum : You have just started your mud, you have lots of cool ideas, you think you can go the distance and create a successful mud, but then reality sets in, and you have this huge world to create with only afew deticated individuals at your side. You attempt to advertise for builders on several differant forums within the community, this of course brings in a flux of "wanna-be" builders who just trash your vnums. Play for years and establish a network of PCs that you know are reliable, talented, and hard-working. Then of course, hope that they're able to spend the time. I'm facing the same problem right now. I know many who fit those three categories, but many are unavailable due to time constrictions in the other aspects (gasp, something other than MUDs?) of their life.
If all else fails, advertise and screen them carefully to weed out the bad seeds. Take care, Jason |

P.S.--By weed them out, I mean make sure they demonstrate their abilities and maybe even have them cite references. Then just remember to check the references carefully.

Weed them out, or buy them weed. I know that Lusternia pays builders with in game 'credits' that can be spent on skills for their characters.
