Are there any other player-operated "services" external to the mud they play? How do the mud owners feel about it? Were they asked if it would be okay? I can see the logos loving it as it increases people trading, which increases the likelihood of spending dollars, with no effort on his part. Having Achaean gold for tokens only and not RL dollars for tokens made it so the logos would still get any possible money from the service

Oh, I'm pretty sure it won't take off. In fact, I'd bet on it. I think it's an interesting little concept and told him it was ok when he asked (mainly because I don't have any right to stop that kind of thing, and also because it's not going to have any real effect on anything), but Achaea's not large enough to require a third party matching service. Lots of people are also afraid (probably without cause but I can't say for sure, of course) that it may be logging keystrokes or something. There's no real reason to suspect that aside from paranoia, but people are suspicious anyway. I have to admit that I won't be installing the program to check it out until lots of others have without reported problems.

Anyways, I thought about signing up at the site, just for kicks and giggles but yes, the paranoia got a little too much for me... oh, and the completely lame aspect of it too.

I doubt it would last. There is already a "dating" clan in Achaea, and last I checked Achaeans weren't having any troubles hooking up.

Not to be rude but considering that everything within the mud runs together like an accumulation of road debrie on a downhill slope caught in a rain storm, it's no wonder someone developed software.. It's prolly the only way to see or find someone.
