I visited MudMagic's website about MUD hosting yesterday and found this line on their site: "There are 743 players gaming on our blazing fast network"(http://www.mudmagic.com/hosting/)
If you look at how many MUDs they host(http://www.mudmagic.com/hosting/game_clients/page1.htm) you see that it is minimally 138 MUDs. However that only seems to be MUDs that actually allow MudMagic to advertise them on that list so the total amount of muds is higher. Is this how it is generally in the MUD community? Does most MUDs have an average of only 5 players online? Is MudMagic hiding something? |

Keep in mind, a lot of the MUDs there (for example, mine) are still in development and not open yet. And I know of one that is no longer in development but is still listed there to use the web space to store files

Yeah, sounds about right lately.
Our mud usually has 10 or so on, with high points of the day at 25ish. 6-7 years ago... 30 was pretty normal with peaks of 45. Of course that could also be the 'good old days' syndrom, but I remember more on in days past. |
