This is a discussion on "Problems compiling SMAUG" in the Top Mud Sites MUD Administration forum : At first I had downloaded the Windows version, because unfortunately that's what I'm running. But when I went to make some changes to the code and recompile it in Cygwin, it wouldn't compile. I figured, I must just be a lousy coder so I took it all out and reinstalled it fresh, did make clean, tried compiling just what was there in the source files to see if maybe it wasn't that I'm a loser. And sure enough, it didn't compile. So I said okay, to #### with Windows. I'll download the Unix version, thinking that perhaps the Windows version doesn't allow revision of source code (as I think I've heard somewhere.) I did make clean again, and tried once again, but I get the exact same errors with the Unix version. Now, I know I'm not the only person out here who is attempting to use Smaug

Thanks for your reply! I was actually finally able to make it work by, oddly enough, installing it in a totally new directory. I'm not sure what it didn't like about the old one, but it works now. Thanks again *smile*+
