He's right though. While I like HL2, and find it to be the graphical game with possibly the most interesting plot ever, the last time I played it was half a year ago. Doom3 ultimately sucked for me. There are just too few options available in graphical games, and after awhile you inevitably realize that competing with a computer at who can punch buttons and update registers faster in different graphical environments is plain dumb. MUDs don't leave that bad taste of having wasted your time on something completely unproductive, predictable, and thus boring, at least good MUDs don't, so you can play them for years.

What game companies need to do is make a graphical game with the atmosphere and feel of a MUD. It would be the perfect game. The only problem would be that you'd never see me again.

The only type of graphical game that could have a chance of keeping your interest is an mmorpg that had updates constantly. Or maybe a game like Elder scrolls 3. the pc version has many mods out for it that can make the game more interesting, adding new plots, weapons, and characters. |
