This is a discussion on "100+ Players Online!" in the Top Mud Sites MUD Announcements forum : For today's massive HRPT finale we had 101 players online simultaneously at Shadows of Isildur, which is a new record for us, beating our previous 88 set about a week ago, and 86 set last January. The code chugged along valiantly with nary a crash, lag bubble or hitch the entire time, despite having over one hundred people involved in army-scale combat for almost the entire four to five hours of the RPT - and to top it off our memory usage held at a steady 5% of the system's resources, which is pretty amazing considering the trouble ... |

For today's massive HRPT finale we had 101 players online simultaneously at Shadows of Isildur, which is a new record for us, beating our previous 88 set about a week ago, and 86 set last January.
The code chugged along valiantly with nary a crash, lag bubble or hitch the entire time, despite having over one hundred people involved in army-scale combat for almost the entire four to five hours of the RPT - and to top it off our memory usage held at a steady 5% of the system's resources, which is pretty amazing considering the trouble we used to have with terrible memory leaks. Anyway, just felt like mentioning it. We're all a bit blown away by it - RPI muds seem like such a relatively small niche that none of us were ever really expecting to see the day where we'd break 100 players, so needless to say we're very excited. Thanks to all who showed up, participated, and made it such a memorable experience! |

Congratulations
I hope the playerbase becomes elevated now after your HRPT. I know the mud I play enjoyed an increase in players during on-peak time. It's certainly a good feeling. |
