Comets have long been omens of ill fortune; harbingers of disaster, defeat, death. What if those omens were more than mere superstition?
The city of Maratha lies in a world where the sun's magic embodies order and life, perfect counterpoint to the dark, chaotic energies of comets. The passing of a comet has always been the most ominous of signs, but fifty years ago, a comet fell to earth in the jungles south of the city. In the decades since, its power has stretched out over surroundings lands, twisting flora and fauna alike into dangerous creatures. It touches both body and mind of the people in the city; an adjustment here, a hint of darkness there. Some children are born aberrant, as much beast as human; civilization falters from hate and terror, compounded by the influx of twisted, tainted monsters from the south and the seemingly never ending need to fight them off. Luckily for the citizens of Maratha, life is not always so bleak. On June 19th, 20th and 21st, Maratha MUCK is holding its annual Midsummer's Festival -- an ideal time for new players to jump in and immerse themselves in what makes our world so unique. Staff will be running public scenes on the IC grid throughout the day, ranging from public exhibitions and musical showcases to tainted animal-baiting and personalized sessions with local fortune tellers. There's literally something for everyone, no matter what their age, profession or persuasion; if you're not sure what you want to play, feel free to browse the game's wiki for adoptables and see if one of our pre-created characters is the right fit for you.
