FireFly Based MUD seeking builders/coders
![]() We are a team of developers who are big fans of the Fireflyverse made by Joss Whedon. We are long time mudders and we decided that we would like to build a MUD using Firefly/Serenity as theme. We are dedicated to building a unique MUD where everything is built from scratch. We'll use what knowledge we have aquired over the years on game mechanics and our experience with MUD communities. Our main goal is to build a fun mud where the players have a wide array of options in regards to playstyle and with a lot of different things to do. Getting Started! If you want to check us out right away, you can use a telnet client and connect to 129.241.210.28 on port 7878. What is the status of the mud? We are currently in the alpha stage of development. We are developing the framework features as well as building up some core areas. When we move to the beta stage, we will clearly state so on our website as well as forum. Can I help out? We are still looking for more people interested in area building and mudlib development. We are using the Lima mudlib and the MudOS driver. If you love Firefly and want to contribute as a builder creating areas, objects and npcs, or have coding skills that could make you an asset to our mudlib crew, please contact us on the mud or post on the forum stating your interest. |

Good luck with this project! Loved the show. Enjoyed the movie. Wish it had more support.

Re: FireFly Based MUD
Out of curiosity, have you tried contacting anyone from Whedon's team? I'm not very familiar with the show (heard good things, though), but it enjoys a lot of 'Net-based popularity. There are two good reasons to try to contact them:
1) Make sure they aren't opposed to the project. You really don't want to put months of work into this and get hit with a cease and desist letter for whatever reason. 2) See if you could get some form of endorsement or other support worked out, once you have enough of a finished product to show to people. Even a passing mention from staff on an official website or whatever could send a lot of fan traffic your way. Take advantage of the show's existing popularity. |
