This is a discussion on "Wanting to add/change some code" in the Top Mud Sites MUD Coding forum :

Hey all... Not sure if this is in the right place, but i'll ask anyhow. I'm running 2 MUD's (Some people don't like some of the aspects of my old MUD, so i made a new one to keep them happy while I'm figuring this out.) The new MUD is where i want to move some things, it's running DoT (Dawn of Time... Someone has to know about this codebase) and the old one is ROM 2.4... with a few mods. what i want to do is change the exp system in DoT (...

Hey all... Not sure if this is in the right place, but i'll ask anyhow.

I'm running 2 MUD's (Some people don't like some of the aspects of my old MUD, so i made a new one to keep them happy while I'm figuring this out.)
The new MUD is where i want to move some things, it's running DoT (Dawn of Time... Someone has to know about this codebase) and the old one is ROM 2.4... with a few mods.
what i want to do is change the exp system in DoT (thus far you get less exp each level, but the amount you need stays the same) so that the amount you need scales up, but the amount of exp you get for killing a mob stays the same.
Does that make sense?

The other thing i want to do is add in group formations... not really sure where to begin in this..

And i want to add a callmount skill for paladin and ranger classes (If you've played Age Of Chaos as or with a paladin, you know exactly why this is, a giant warhorse for a small ammount of mana?? Sign Me Up!

There are a few other things i want to do, but those 2 are a start..

I'm pretty new to the code side of things, I've had a few Hero/Adv/God type chars on a few different MUD's so i have some degree of understanding of the code, but i mainly deal in objects, room and mob creation.. only just started truely working on code and mobprogs..

anyone got any ideas where i should start??

Taa.
