This is a discussion on "Gallow Hill" in the Top Mud Sites MUD Coding forum : I was told there is a sign coded somewhere in the orginal code of rot 1.2 and up. It's a sign in Gallow Hill, and I am just wondering if this guy is blowing smoke up my rear or if it's actually there. Then my second question is, if I remove this little piece of code since it's copyrighted, can I be sued. I am posting it here, because im sure if it's in the code the coders here would know about it.... |

I'll take a stab at this one. The sign you may be talking about is more of an aesthic extra description for a room that points out a couple early players, and I believe it is in any stock Plains area file from the Merc release. I've asked around quite abit about the actual meaning of the sign and the answers I've gotten a pretty varied. I don't believe the sign lists any credits for the area, so if you wanted to alter it there shouldn't be any problem.
PS Did some quick checking, its room vnum 315 in stock ROT. |

Well I ran across a big shot immortal that says he was the one who made that area, and said if i took out any part of that sign he would sue me for copywright purposes. For some reason this seems like a load of horse dung, so I was just wondering in rom 1.4 and higher have anything to do with this sign.

Eh?
-glancing at the sign right now- Oro? How does this deal with credits? Do me a favor, and tell that so-called "big shot immortal" that he is full of it. -D |

Actually, the names posted on Gallow Hill p*ssed off Vengeance and as a sign that they were forever banished from Realms of Thoth, Gallow Hill was created.
It is also in stock RoT 1.4 code, so the guy was b'sing you. |

Actually that too is wrong. The original release of plains.are that came with Merc had the Gallows Hill sign on it with the names Dim and Gamma. The original area was written by Copper, although Vengence may have changed the names to someone he was upset at. So you see Kelijorian, there is no problems with altering it. |

Vengeance did change the name to 3 guys he was upset at. If anything happened before it, I don't know, but I know for sure that Russ did this.
