This is a discussion on "Taking MUD friends too far?" in the Top Mud Sites MUD Humor forum : I've got a little story. If anyone has played Might and Magic VII, or possibly a different version has the same character setup, you should know that you get to fully customize your party, I customized mine along parameters that an online FAQ said to stay within, as well as using people's characters names AND classes, AND close races. Weird eh? I could have explained it better, but basically, its like getting them into a group, slapping it into a might and magic game, and playing. Anyone have a similar story to share?... |

Ever play Master Of Orion? Well, in MOO 1, you get to design and name your ships, and I would find myself designing ships with specific properties and naming them after guilds from the mud I play on, guilds with matching properties.
So a ship design with lots of defense would be so-and-so, while a ship with lots of attacking power would be blah blah, and a ship that could teleport would be something or another. Later I started naming my ships after specific members of those guilds with certain properties. When a friend saw me playing he actually complimented me on how creative I was when I named my ships... it was rather embarassing. |

My character used to have a ferret named Orestes, and for a while I was considering getting a ferret and actually naming it that...
Now I think I'll just get a dog... ...and name it Sydney. |

Hmmm, my story is a bit of the opposite approach.
I have a mob on my mud named after the head imp in the mud I left. The desc says that she's a stuck-up, prim bitch, wearing a tight corselet and a high-buttoned blouse. On entrance she tells you that in her Boarding House it is forbidden to cuss, to bring people of the opposite sex to your room, and to mention the name Molly. If you do, she attacks you. (Needless to say, we weren't exactly bosom friends. And mentioning the name Molly used to be a sure way of being banned from her mud...) Also there are a couple of mobs in a pub in one of the zones, named after a couple of extremely irritating people, who used to post a lot on TMC in the old days. One is named faye, the other shade, and they've got a long and spammy scripted conversation where one is whining about being ill treated and having to witness mudsex at the fountain in every mud she visits, while the other rants endlessly about mud rape. (If any of you ever encountered those posters, you'll know exactly what I am talking about). This is my way of venting. Whenever I come across someone that irritates the heck out of me, I tend to make a nasty caricature of them in my mud. So PH34r my anger, or you might end up in one of my zones... muhaha! |
