AoDX: Divine Intervention - MUD Description
AoD: Divine Intervention is, much like the epic basis of it's founding storyline, a MUD revolving around the purpose of doing that which no other MUD has managed to accomplish: Establishing a functional community within a coded game that maintains the liberal art of "roleplay" as it's foremost property. Divine Intervention's specific way of going about this is reviving the ancient empiremud coding (which had been taken to a White-Wolf 'world of darkness' theme), and further integritizing it with the tabletop game upon which it's coding is largely based;simply said, Divine Intervention's ultimate goal is to create, if not surpass, a direct simulation of tabletop or LARP experience online through emotional integrity via character-player identification, and -enhance- the gaming experience with a coded universe, allowing the players themselves to focus entirely on a sense of roleplay and epic storytelling, rather than biasing themselves on "who has the higher 'level'".

The theme of empires and the massive ANSI map "earth" in which AoD: Divine Intervention takes place only further adds to the sense of drama, giving the player's a better sense of mortality within their characters, and birthing an innate awareness to both that their actions, while small, can grow to have a "global" effect.

The greatest thing about this MUD is it's still in a beta type phase. And while the overall goal will forever remain the same, roleplaying elitists, creative writers and visionaries of the liberal artistic sort are all encouraged and invited to give their opinion on just how this goal is best met.

Too long has "roleplay" been nothing more to the textmud (as opposed to MUSHs or other text clientel gaming productions, which -have- come to a strong roleplay commune)than a variable to work around when seeking an ooc-derived playerkill. AoD: Divine Intervention is, much like the tabletop experience itself, nothing more than reasonable, intelligent young men and women collecting to define for themselves a gaming experience both satisfactory to the mature and evolved mind, but one that also cultivates the awareness of the gamer, liberating them from the stagnance of day-to-day occupational work and scholastic study in the only way possible: Through Fantasy
