| Meat MUD Classic has just moved out of ALPHA and into BETA testing mode! Meat MUD Classic was put on-line by an old-school former MUD addict for other old-school former MUD addicts who just don't have the time to invest in serious hardcore MUD gaming any longer. Meat MUD Classic should feel very familiar to former Meat MUD players and anyone else who misses their old Merc or Envy MUD. Meat MUD Classic was inspired by the original Meat MUD started at the University of Texas in 1993 - originally a modified Merc MUD with a Dungeons & Dragons theme blended with some outlandish humor. Please don't mind Frank Zappa - he's always been the mascot of Meat MUD. Meat MUD Classic uses a modified Greed source with mostly stock areas. OLC is waiting for willing builders who want to get creative and add to the world. Greed was based on Envy 2.2 and features most add-ons expected in modern MUDs today, in addition to OLC. We feature extra classes, multi-classing, races and interactive NPCs. We're just getting started, and there is much to do, but if you want fun, we have it. We are purposely retaining a mostly stock MUD to pay homage to the original Meat MUD, and also to make it easier for old-timers to be able to quickly join and play. Why learn how to play a MUD all over again? Why not just jump into Meat MUD Classic? That doesn't mean that Meat MUD Classic holds no surprises - there are new areas waiting to be explored, and some classic areas hold new challenges. Jump right in to see what we mean. We all have our comfort games. Some of us prefer to know the ins and outs of the games we grew up on, and miss the comfort of a MUD that had become our home away from home. Meat MUD Classic strives to be such a home, and as such we intend to avoid making the game "more realistic" or sacrifice fun in favor of "balance". Former Meat MUD veterans are always welcome - and bring your friends! |
