| Split Infinitive - MUD Description | |
| Pastoral suburban New York state city: Piedmont. The year is (nearly) 2006 and two years ago, a single paranormal event tore the generally accepted reality of Earth apart with the ntroduction of all sorts of odd monsters spawned from Faerie Tales and other sources of overwrought imagination. Earth is now a fully magical place, but, standing laws make anything not human a lesser life form. Everything is in an uproar and big game hunting takes on a new meaning. Welcome to Split Infinity. People venture forth into dungeons that spawn from seemingly nowhere, competing for powerful artifacts, money, and fame as well as survival against the horde of otherworldly guardians inside that have a vested interest in keeping people out. We use the D20 system, and allow a wide variety of races, classes, and feats, as well as some custom content for you to try. Staff is attentive and supportive and our players are a friendly bunch, so come on over and make a story with us. Knowledge of D&D 3.5 is helpful, but not a must. We don't have mobiles, or things sitting around on the grid that you just slaughter. Rather, Dungeon Masters run the sessions just as in tabletop D&D, and XP is awarded at the end of plots. Character growth and progression is also handled by staff, and there's room for any character concept that's even vaguely reasonable. We always welcome players or those with Dungeon-Mastering experience to come run online sessions of D&D. Players can move freely between plots or explore the IC grid to interact with other players in the world of modern-day New York, as it struggles with the trials of a sudden influx of every nightmare personified in D&D 3.5, and D20 Modern. |
