| Many millenniums ago, before man was born, dragons ruled this world and protected it under their mighty wings. Most dragons had a gentle nature and they were all very clever. The evil dragons kept to themselves far away from each other and other beings. Slowly the races of humanoids, the likes of dwarves, elves and humans started to grow, and the dragons welcomed the new species that had entered their world. Peoples and dragons lived together as friends for many centuries, meanwhile the race of men grew in size and strength. Then one year, after a bad harvest, an evil human man named Aqoidhac came to power by playing on men's superstition and claiming it was the dragons fault the weather had caused their harvest to falter. Many people gathered and wanted to see the dragons fall. A great army went out and challenged the dragons' fury. The battle between men and dragons lasted for years, but the human race had grown to be too formidable for the dragons to control, and after a decade of war, almost all the dragons were gone from the face of this earth. But some of the dragons had survived. The cruel and evil dragons who were hiding for themselves in swamps and caves suddenly awoke. They had powers stronger then any of the other dragons had possessed. With acid, ice and fire they came out and ruined all life they saw. Only laziness kept them from eradicate them all. Now they all live in fear for the next attack from the evil dragons. Some of the gentle dragons that survived aren't strong enough let alone enough to conquer the evil ones. The few people that today protect themselves and the earth from extinction call themselves The Last Defenders. |
