This is a discussion on "Do you remember this mystery client?" in the Top Mud Sites Newbie Help forum : This isn't necessarily a newbie question per se, but it seemed to fit better here than in any of the other forums. A few years ago I used to use a client that I foolishly deleted it when I was pressed for hard drive space, and now I am feeling nostalgic and I'd like to look at it again. Here are the features I remember: *It ran in Windows 3.1 *It did not support ANSI color *The numeric keep pad acted as one button direction keys. For example instead of having to type "w" and &... |

This isn't necessarily a newbie question per se, but it seemed to fit better here than in any of the other forums. A few years ago I used to use a client that I foolishly deleted it when I was pressed for hard drive space, and now I am feeling nostalgic and I'd like to look at it again. Here are the features I remember:
*It ran in Windows 3.1 *It did not support ANSI color *The numeric keep pad acted as one button direction keys. For example instead of having to type "w" and "enter" you could just hit "4" on the numeric key pad. *It did not have a GUI interface. No buttons, just drop down menus. *It was small, it ran on a 386 with just 4 MB of RAM. It was small enough to run off a floppy disk. *It was written sometime in the early 1990s. Sound familiar? Searching for mud clients doesn't bring up anything that looks right, but I'm sure if I knew the name I could find a copy floating around somewhere. Nothing ever really disappears on the internet. Thanks. Angela Christine |
