This is a discussion on "Same problem" in the Top Mud Sites Newbie Help forum :

I am still having the same problem on spell creation. I made a previous post about the error message *spell has no affects 17*. I stopped all attempts on spells and skills, focusing on building instead. Now I have made a return to spell/skill creation using SMAUG_SPELLS. What I am finding is as long as I am making creation spells I have no errors. When I attempt damage spells I find that they are in all ways duplicate to stock spell formats. After saving the skill table and rebooting I get the same message claiming the spell has no affects. This time I am using the tools that are provided with sset. The previous post was over code written with the help of Erdos and Dre. After the installation I received the same message. At that time I thought it was my installation. I really need some help here. If anyone has experience with the SMAUG codebase and spell creation please hit me up on a private message please. It is definitely a case where I am not using the sset commands properly. Thanks for any help offered.

Finally I was able to make one of the spells work. I received help as usual and I am posting to say thanks. As for the code I added, I am sure with what I learned I will be able to get it to work as well. Thanks again

For future reference... there is a Coders forum for stuff like this, as this forum I -thought- was intended for newbie to mud questions, anyways, just letting you know.
