Newbie Help

The title says it all. I'm a mostly clueless goober with a couple of vague MUD ideas shambling about in my head. Is there any place I can go to get an introduction to building/coding muds? Should I save my time and just give up now and start wallowing in shame immediately?

Look for a MUD instead of asking for pity, it is more honorable. If my reply seems a bit harsh, think of how you will be treated based on pity rather then honor.

I dont belive he was looking for pity, but more of a direction.
Almost every owner/imp that hires coders and or builders, require exp.

My thoughts are that you start with the stock code base you wish to use, that can be found on MudMagic.

and look at the code to see how it works, what does what, and why things do the things they do.

Same with building, MudMagic also has a very well laid out fourm that you can find almost any answer on.

Yes, Ntael, your reply did seem a wee bit harsh, but your suggestion of finding a position in a pre-existing MUD sounds interesting. Perhaps after I've studied a codebase or two(Thanks Kinnith!

I'm surprised no one's mentioned that Academy site that went up a bit ago. It looked promising for anyone interested in going into Smaug, but as that was not in my own best interests and the site was not functional at the time I had seen it, I've forgotten about it.

Maybe someone else knows the link and would be willing to offer it here.
