I have managed to get through the network blocks that have been put in-place by the staff in our computing room, and an external networking business...lucky me. I can now connect to muds using the 'Squid Proxy' Username and Password to get through the firewall and other various blocks. I double click the mud icon and it connects(I am using zMUD) but then does nothing after that. It doesn't bring up and where you can type in a password or any thing similar. It just connects and stops there...staying connected. I'm thinking, but not sure, that they have stopped all out-going telnet data or anything similar... If you could advise me on the matter I would be most appreciative... Also, if you need more information concerning the setup of the proxy in order to answer, just ask... Thanks very much, Sincerely, Seraph. |

Because you're using squid proxy, you've most likely "connected" to port 80 (the webserver), not the MUD telnet daemon, which will connect and leave you hanging (for example, try telnetting to topmudsites.com 80).

Heya,
When I login from school I use a program that uses the webport(80 or 8080) and redirects it to the socksport(1080), the program emulates a socks port which you need to connect via proxy. Ok so far the unusable bla bla. This program is called socks2http and can be found if you look for it at www.download.com. You install it, it has a nasty ad-bar, and then you use zmud-preferences and fill in at the proxy localhost 1080. You also need to configure the program with the name of the server port 8080. If that doesn't work, then I have no clue either Greetings Dre |

Thanks heaps for your replies.
Downloaded the socks2http and a variant of that, but alas to no avail. Even going through the program, it still does the same thing. Our network admins are just too smart. But we'll see about that. If you've got any other ideas or information that would be useful I would much appreciate it. Other than that, thanks heaps. |
