Need to switch clients, suggestions?

Currently using POWTTY but I just realized that the occasional garbled text wasn't due to line noise (heh... I started mudding in '92 using a normal modem) but a problem with the client. Mostly it doesn't matter but on Rocky MUD I use the heads up display which is full screen and garbled text is a major pain as you can imagine.

1) It must run under WINDOWS 98 SE
2) It must be free
3) If it uses less disk space that would be a big bonus

zMUD 3.62 is freeware. I just can't get Zugg's page with it to load. BTW, how are you still using Windows 98??

The MUSHclient's page says that it works under Windows 98:

It's 3.3 mb in size.

Dead link?

No joke, it was working when I posted it. Google "zmud 3.62 download" .. it's still a top result on google. Crazy coincidence.

Should work

Win98? Maybe I'm just a genius at keeping things going. ;-)

Thanks for the zmud link, I used zmud a bit way back, can't seem to find my old copy. Actually I think I used v4 which stopped working after a year or two. Still got some map files from 2000 or so.

Turns out I forgot that the client needs a 4th thing:

4) Must be fully VT100 emulation capable including all screen positioning commands.

That's a tricky one. The old zmud couldn't do it, wintin95 could not, JMC neither. Wintin.net can though and as a huge bonus the alias format is almost identical to Powtty's so I could copy and tweak and almost all worked.
