Here's something that bugs

Well, it bugs me.

Nothing against Iron Realms and their latest Flash Advertisement, however, the Quick links (and possibly other links) are going "behind" the ad which makes it hard to see what you are clicking on. This does not happen with other ads only the Flash Ad by IRE.

After investigating this further, it appears that it will disappear if you click the Search first, but if you click the drop down menus for Mud Database (Beta) or Quick Links, they will fall behind the ad.

There's Javascript on the page that is supposed to remove the banner if a pop-up needs to open over it. Apparently that isn't working too well.

I can barely hack my way through JS so if anyone reading this knows Javascript and wants to take a look it would be much appreciated.

Since I released some today, I'd feel bad if I didn't at least try to help. :)

There's probably an easier way than using JS to remove the banner, though. Try setting the CSS z-index attribute for the drop-down menus to something nice and high, like:

.vbmenu_control {
z-index: 100;
}

The only thing worse than JS is forced Flash. It's like buying a DVD and wishing you had the video version instead because you have to watch the 10 second splice scenes that the DVD creators think are so nifty, but all the buyers find extremely annoying. I pray for the day a DVD machine will come out that you can press one button that will skip all bells, whistles, options, and previews and go straight to the movie.

Imagine that? Just a webpage without fluff? Kind of like an RPG without graphics. Hurrah!

(This post probably should be its own thread and not muddy this thread).

Such things exist; all commercial-grade gear, as far as I know, like from . Half the time they don't work because the DVD designers were so incredibly aggressive in making their content via-my-menu-only.

That's why I cut & burn. I nab the movie only off the dvd and make my own copy (for educational purposes only TM).
