Lurking Fear 3, Come see what Lurks in the dark!

Greetings everyone,

I'd like to take this time to invite you to consider stopping by and checking this game out. If you enjoy White Wolf/World of Darkness type of rp you might be interested in this place, or if you just like vampires, garou (werewolves) or mages.

Everyone starts out as a mortal on here, and there is an interesting way to make your character more diverse then some places with they style feature. This allows you to set your character's nature and demeanor, along with an anondescription. This is a pk (playerkill) and rp (roleplay) game, and rp is rewarded with rp points which you can use to buy rpstat, which helps with greater experience points gains. Pkstat also help with this also, and measures how deadly a character is, which has various title ranks as you progress.

You progress through killing mobs to gain experience to increase your hp/mana/movement or buying merits to help improve your character, later on experpinence points can be converted to primal, which is used to buy class powers.

After you feel your mortal is strong enough to play with the big boys, you can train avatar, which brings you one step closer to classing. Once the requirements are met, which vary if you wish to be classed by a player or Imm you being your path as a newly bitten vampire, clawed werewolf, or taught mage.

Once you reach this level the rp can really pick up, and of course for pkers this is the beginning of making a name for yourself amongst the ranks. You won't max your character very quickly on here, so you'll have something to do for a very long time. There is also a new legend feature for those characters that have maxed their hp to improve their characters even more, and this is being continually added upon.

As for areas, there are some stock zones, and some unique ones like Rome, Paris, London, etc. There is a also a quest system in place where you can quest your equipment, and gain rp points that way for the pure pker, this is done through automative questing and campaigns via the questmaster.

The timeline is the late 1400s to early 1500s, with each class arguing or fighting amongst themselves and the mortals which they seek to influence, control, or outright scare to death. :)

Vampires have several disciplines to choose from, the werewolves have a 12 totem system which all can be learned, and the mages have spheres that they can learn, improving their magical, defensive, and offensive abilities. The mages here are a complete "from scratch" coding, and is unique, you won't find this type of mage system anywhere else. The garou system is also new compared to what you'd find elsewhere, based off the totems, and the vampire's disciplines which I spoke of are also very interesting and unique.

The classes are divided into different sects, clans, and traditions within the game, so you could be a Brujah vampire, a Shadow Lords garou, or a Order of Hermes mage as examples. There are several such choices within the classes, and after that you can be independant or join a sect to work alongside to further your goals, and gives special channels to communicate with each other also.

The game also has active coders, so new things are going in, old things being modified to make this an even more diverse and interesting place to call home. Staying in character is enforced, but the pker will find this not restrictive and the rper at heart would enjoy this.

Overall, the players that are here are helpful and friendly to a newbie, although we need some fresh blood so to speak. The playerbase varies depending on the time of day and the day of week, but it is low at the moment. If you do decide to stop by don't be discourage when you type who and see noone, most classed players use their class powers to stay hidden amongst the shadows. If for some odd reason an immortal or player isn't on, don't lose hope, please take the time to read over the various helpfiles about the classes, or gain some exp.

There are also Immortal ran quests from time to time that are quest point token scatters, hide and seek, diverse storyline ran quests, or quests that involve pk.

I highly encourge you to give this mud a try, even if you aren't familar with the genre of rp, most are glad to help you in this aspect of learning, and point you to various websites to further your knowledge.

I thank you for reading this posting, and hope to see you soon.

You can connect to the game at lurkingfear.org port 4040
