/tg/MUD - Traditional Games-based MUD

We are a MUD running on a heavily modified version of the CoffeeMUD codebase. We started out as a Traditional Games (D&D, mainly) MUD, but that sort of lost its direction, and tgmud itself is sort of a mishmash. In a good way, though. We have:

- 5700+ rooms.
- 26 default player races.
- 45 player classes.
- Magical abilities and items of all sorts.
- Martial & mundane classes that aren't helpless against magic.
- A constantly building MUD. New places, abilities and code changes every week.
- A friendly and welcoming community.
- A very roleplay-friendly environment.
- Player-foundable clans and a multitude of (mostly imported) places to conquer and control.
- Player-ownable houses, and skills that allow them to decorate, furnish and edit their homes.
- ANSI colors and MXP support.
- Dynamic, mostly player-controlled plot.

New characters find themselves in the Hub, an apparent interdimensional net. The Hub is a small community built atop a semistable portal network. There are several somewhat consistent portals, but smaller, less significant portals open and close daily - abducting people from their rightful dimensions and often closing behind them, forcing them to abandon their old life and join the interesting social structure that has evolved from the complete anarchy of the Hub. Clans have risen and fallen, attempts to seize power have failed, people have died, and yet, life goes on.

Currently the MUD is in a bit of a lull. We have leaked a few players and are looking to bring people in to restore activity to its former levels. Give it a try, the setting and community are often found strangely addictive!

Good news! We are up to 33 player races and still want you to join.

I'm actually kinda interested in this game. I logged on and then I think I broke something. I left a message in game on why I left so soon after character creation. I'm going to try to hop on to the IRC channel and see if I can chat with someone.

Some of you may remember that I searched for quite a while for a MUD to craft on, and this is where I settled.

Hey folks. I actually like this game. The level that a crafter can customize things to is incredible. Long, short, description, everything. Of course you have to get to level thirty before you can do so. (Which takes a very long time from crafting exp.)

There's a wide variety of base recipes, and you can gain expertizes to add stat modifying variables to the items.
Then you can customize them to look awesome, and you get the perfect craft.

The only downside (In my opinion only) is that the RP is a little on the basic side, and some people don't do it at all.

@Realedazed: Not sure if you ever got that help, but I'd be willing to help you out!

@Ghostcat: Yes, and we miss you very much. :) Personally I think that the MUD is in a bit of a funk lately. I know I've been somewhat lethargic on it up to now. Hopefully RP will make a bit of a comeback.

Bumping. We've been somewhat more active lately; we just finished fully implementing a race (and its six subraces) called Scellor, a variety of humanoid plant-based life with psychic powers.

Can't go wrong with psychic powers!:D

Indeed you can't! They're quite a cool race, I'm proud of the work I did there.

In more recent news, we updated Necromancers and Arcanists a bit, and added a new skill to Engineers, which allows them to create robots they can control.

We are up to 7000+ rooms, and have added 20 new races since this was posted, as well as a neat new feature that allows you to set locational descriptions:

Command : BODYDESCRIPTION
Usage : BODYDESCRIPTION [BODY PART] [NEW DESCRIPTION TEXT] ...
Example : bodydesc ears Her ears are pointed and covered with a soft fluff.
Short(s): bodydesc
This command allows you to set individual descriptions for parts of your
body, that can only be seen if you aren't wearing clothing over it. You can
use this to make your description more lengthy and in-depth, or include
things that someone wouldn't be able to see if that part of your body were
covered. Entering the command with no arguments will give you a list of valid
locations, and entering only a location will give you your current
description for that body part.

Here's an example of it in action:

Jerun the young adult Jungle Lazurek is a level 8/9 Assassin.
He is 67 inches tall and weighs 152 pounds.
Jerun is in perfect health.

A rather short Jungle Lazurek, standing only at five feet seven inches tall.
His fur is dappled brown, with tinges of olive, fading to a creamy white on
his mane. The outside of his ears are the same color as the rest of his fur,
but the creamy white fur of his underbelly fluffs out of the inside, lining
the sides of his ear to give the impression of a radar dish. The outside of
his ears are the same color as the rest of his fur, but the creamy white fur
of his underbelly fluffs out of the inside, lining the sides of his ear to
give the impression of a radar dish. His fur fades to a rich, creamy white on
his stomach, starting as his mane and continuing down between his legs. His
tail is long and ends in a large ball of fluff, which gently fades to a
creamy white. It's fully prehensile, and waves about behind him seemingly on
its own. His feet are obscured by a large ball of fluff, the same color as
the rest of his fur.

He is wearing:
(waist) : a loincloth

Here's what it looks like with different bits of clothing on:

A tanned Caucasian woman with long black hair down to her shoulders and a
cocky grin.

She is wearing:
(eyes) : some mirror tinted sunglasses
(body) : a rifle sling
(torso) : an ikat dolman-sleeve T-shirt
(waist) : a pistol holster
(legs) : a leg sheath
(legs) : some slim ivory black classic khakis
(feet) : some black steel-toed combat boots

That becomes:

A tanned Caucasian woman with long black hair down to her shoulders and a
cocky grin. She has piercing brown eyes, with thin, arching eyebrows, capable
of shifting into a stunning multitude of expressions, as befits the
situation.

She is wearing:
(body) : a rifle sling
(torso) : an ikat dolman-sleeve T-shirt
(waist) : a pistol holster
(legs) : a leg sheath
(legs) : some slim ivory black classic khakis
(feet) : some black steel-toed combat boots

Once you take off the sunglasses.
