I have no problem reading through other sites announcements, that's one of the things TMS is here for, but please stop it with the freaking responses from a random newbie from whatever mud that posted the announcement that has posted nothing else in the forums whatsoever but a response to the announcement saying who ****ing cool it is.

I seriously could set my watch by the time that passes between certain announcements and comments and how long it takes a "rah rah, I play on _ and this is a cool thing" bull**** post from someone with 2 total posts (with the 1st being the same crap on another thread).

And yes, I expect to get flamed by certain persons for this post, and please, by all means, go ahead, but I'm sure there's other people who are just as annoyed at this bull**** as I am, they simply haven't said anything.

Aye...

*Is beaten severely by a swarm of Armageddon fanatics*

*Glares at... Terloch*

Nah, I just like poking fun at them. Right. But I have noticed a lot of that, and yes it is sometimes annoying, but it's not all that troubling. Just read the first post, it's all that generally matters in that kind of topic.

Since I agree with your note, I'd go "Rah Rah" to that, if it hadn't been so blatantly ironic to do so...

Official post, Player reads post, Player tries mud, Player loves mud, Player registers TMS forum account to say "I tried it and it's cool!"

Or

Bitch flame post against mud, Player, whilst voting for mud notices post, takes objection to it, and registers account to rebutt with their opinion.

Yeah, #### those people and expressing their damned opinion. How dare they? [/sarcasm]

I'm pretty #### tired of people equating post count to intelligence and personal value. There is some merit in the length spent on a forum, however, there are such things as "lurkers" who only post when they really, really have something to say. It probably won't ever stop, but it's something to keep in mind. [/rant]

I do, however, agree that people should have something to say if they're posting. That goes for oldbies as well as newbies, in my book.

I don't think anyone intelligent really equates post count with any personal characteristics, to be fair. It is, as you say, indicative of nothing except that the person has posted a lot.

I never equated the number of posts with the intelligence of the poster.

My beef is with people who randomly pop up with one or two posts, and the only thing they ever say if you go look at everything they have posted, has simply been a one or two line "yay, I love this feature on my mud I play exclusively" post. Or my other favorite, someone who makes a login to the forums to just make that one post, and they are never heard of or seen again.

That depends on what you consider by "value". Personally I couldn't care less about the voters - for me, the value of TMS lies purely in the discussions.
