Newbie Looking for MUDs
 

Hello Everyone,
I am quite new to MUDing but would like to explore MUDs because they are primarily text-based. Being a blind gamer, I find that most MUDs work well with screen readers like JAWS and System Access. Though I have played a few MUDs (if you consider grinding, getting lost, and perishing in the wilderness playing, lol), I am looking to find some MUDs to really explore and hopefully enjoy for the long-term.
I'd like to find some MUDs that break the typical Medieval fantasy mold. This is what I'm particularly interested in.
* Time travel (a MUD that has time travel elements and many eras in time), mythology (Greek, Roman, Celtic, Indian, etc), modern day, or historical genre
* Newbie friendly
* Wide range of skills and professions (I have always been interested in things like fishing, gathering, and the "ranger" class)
* Quests that can be done either on one's own or with a group
* A friendly community
* Great help files (I need them!) or players who don't mind answering questions
I don't mind if the MUD is one I have to pay for. I'm just looking for something fun to play. Thanks for your help.
