New 1000 AD

New 1000 AD is a free multiplayer turn based strategy game based on civilizations around the year 1000 AD. 10 different civilizations to choose from. The civilizations are well balanced so that alliance play is enhanced more. A person can do very well solo in this game but gets an extra economical and military bonus for beingin an alliance.
There are two games at New 1000 AD. Standard with 320 turns and with new turns coming every 9 minutes and Blitz an 800 turn game with new turns coming every 3 minutes.
Teamwork, strategy and diplomacy are all important in this history based war game. We have also set up training alliances in both games, so when you make an account make sure to ask to be put in an existing alliance if you need help learning the game.
Try

Yeah but can I level my Elven Ranger in just 800 turns? Turns? You meant ticks, right?

;-)

Re: New 1000 AD

I think they mean turns as in it is a turn based game. There are many games like this out on the web, some that you can only take one turn per day, if you can imagine that.

Re: New 1000 AD

Yeah, they're not really muds, but I always thought they would make a good minigame for a mud - some sort of long-term strategy game, perhaps representing clans, guilds or religions fighting for control over various resources.

Explain a Mud to me..I registered my game here and according to this thread, Im not a mud. Im new to the gaming deal. I had played this game for years and then it went offline and I took code and put it back online, so Im a rookie.

Re: New 1000 AD

Your game is a standard online turn based game. In general, a MUD is a text based roleplaying game that flows as scrolling text in real time. Log on to any number of MUDs from TMS and you will get a good feel for the difference.

I see now. My game is kind of like Nintendo 64 and those games are like Xbox :)

Those are fancy. Thanks for reply.

Re: New 1000 AD

Your welcome.:)

But the difference isn't really in system, but rather the game itself. It is more this is a Poker Forum and your game is Blackjack. Both are card games but are completely different in play. Now if this were a CARD GAME FORUM then it would make sense to be listed alongside other card games. Does that make sense?

I guess so. I'm not really in charge of that decision. It would come from the Administrator (which is Lasher) or one of the moderators.

If we start advertising web/turn-based strategy games on a mud forum, where will it end....

....

If it isnt in text you probably should move on.

Re: New 1000 AD

TMS has listing and search options for graphical muds, so I'm not sure I agree. There's also the problem of defining "text" and "graphics" - most muds utilise both text and graphics to some degree, so where do you draw the line? Particularly when graphics are handled by the client, meaning that unless the mud restricts your choice of client (which can be difficult to enforce against a determined user), they can't actually control how much graphics you see. I think most of us could judge this on a case-by-case basis, but if we're excluding certain groups there would need to be a clearly defined rule.

I think it would be easier to focus on the definition of a "mud" rather than try to categorise games based on how much graphical content they have. I don't think we'll see the big commercial MMORPGs advertising here anyway, but it might be nice to see some of the free smaller ones mingling with the TMS crowd.
