after finding the mud I like $20/month, I decided that it was time to try Ultima Online.
I love how the is coded: 1)learning by doing, what to be a swordsman? get a sword and start swinging, you'll get the hang of it. 2)PC trading most generaly you stupid to buy supplies for a NPC one example: A player can mine for iron ore and melt it into ignots and sell them for 5@gold to a player blacksmith, in in bulk 1k,2K whatever, or the player blacksmith could buy from a NPC for 8 gold each and not get ANYWHERE to 1K on one vist, hard choice ehh? But there is little interaction between players unless your trading or in a guild , I can see myself playing this long term, max my character then what? Anyone have a mud that sounds like this? |
Just to throw out one of the MUDs I play. It's Inferno. Its also 20/month. Lots of interaction from other players. You can mine, smelter, forge, forage, make stuff and sell it. I haven't been playing long so I can't give you all of the details but thats what I know and why I play it.

Not sure if you're still looking, but you might want to take a look at DartMUD: The Lands of Ferdarchi
. Skills can only be improved through practice. Wanna make the best beer around? Get to brewing. In DartMUD, unlike most other MUDs, you cannot buy the vast majority of items from NPC shops (unless they were sold to the NPC by a PC). Crafts include: Alchemy Brewing Chandlery Farming Herbalism Lumbering Metallurgy Milling Mining Sewing Smithing Woodworking And a couple that escape me at the moment... I've been playing DartMUD for nearly a decade, and there are active players who have been around longer than I have. Playability isn't a problem. Come give us a try. I'm sure you won't regret it. |

I've tried a lot of muds, none come close to Threshold.
