The algorithms, formulas and statistics

Hi,

I'm halfway through the building of my codebase, and am now considering how the economics, politics, skill system, fight system and the like should work. So I'm wondering what algorithms and formulas govern these things in your mud. Do you have any kind of self-balancing algorithms? Do you govern the amount of money in the system, and if so, how do you decide how much money there should be? What formulas decides how much damage is dealt? And so on and on...

I wrote up some details on how we do gold balancing on Alter Aeon a year or two ago; the article is at:

As for the other systems you mentioned, I'd recommend something simple, and for large effect one-shot events, non-binary (smoothly varies from failure to success.)
