I'm a web designer who is looking to expand my personal resume, while at the same time adding my personal touch to MUD-related websites. Much of my work is pro-bono, providing I have an interest in a proposed project. So, if you have a MUD, and have website for your MUD that just isn't up to par, feel free to look over some of the sites I've created recently and e-mail me if you would like to talk about giving your site a new look.

I'm new to this forum, so forgive me if this isn't the most appropriate spot to put a post like this.

And let me be the second!  Nice work indeed... I wish I'd had you on my contact list a few days ago when I started doing the rework on our own site.  Heck, I might -still- plead for assistance!

Happy New Years...

Yes, IRE is in there as DEAD6 is being built upon Rapture, by IRE. Giving credit, where credit is due. Yeah, I need to get into CSS. Never bothered with it, never had the need to use it really as until recently, most of my work has been for personal sites.

An IRE RPI mud?  I thought that idea had been dismissed due to being such a specialised niche market...and a monthly pay-to-play fee also seems to be a big break from the standard IRE model.

And unless I'm misreading it, it seems to be taking the coordinate-based approach to movement rather than room-based, which is rather a surprising risk for a commercial venture to take.

Is the information on the site actually accurate, or did you just throw some random text together to show what the website layout might look like?  And is the mud related to the which is supposed to open on July 1st?

AFAIK, Wade and his team are the ones developing DEAD6, the same game as the one in the link you gave, only using IRE's Rapture engine instead of the DIKU derivative. IRE isn't involved in any other way besides providing the codebase.

WadeGustafson 01-02-2006 01:27 AM

Yup, HaiWolfe is correct.

IRE is NOT involved with the project in any way other than that we are currently working on a proof of concept version of DEAD6 using Rapture prior to licensing the engine and going commercial. The DEAD6 site on Wolfpaw is the old version of the site that I had actually forgotten was there as I had, soon after, switched to another host for our developmental phase. I'll have to bring that one down. The most current site (still under construction) is at .

The information listed on the old site is accurate for the version of DEAD6 that was being built upon the SoI RPIMUD Engine by C. W. McHenry, which was in turn ultimately an expansion of the old Diku code. We were several months into development and decided that we'd like to go commercial with the game. Looking into commercially viable code-bases we decided to develop DEAD6 based on a Rapture foundation.

Yes, the project is VERY unlike the IRE games. We are simply using Rapture for the network code and internal programming ability. Everything else is being coded from scratch to make the commercial version of DEAD6 an RPI. Of course, taking this route pushes back our plans of opening in 2006. You can follow our progress on the website and the RPIMUD.com forums.

In reference to the original posting here, thank you to everyone who has contacted me about doing some webwork for your games. I've had man inquiries and will be deciding which web projects to work on in the next week or so and getting back to you all via email.

Really nice stuff. I especially like the images. A definite must for MUD Websites.
